Licensing & Regulatory Disclosures
Regulatory Framework
Life settlement transactions are regulated under Florida law, including Part X of Chapter 626 of the Florida Statutes and related rules administered by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and the Florida Department of Financial Services. Activities described on this website are intended to be conducted in accordance with applicable law.
IRAA's Role
Indian River Alternative Assets, LLC ("IRAA") acts solely as an intermediary and consultant, facilitating communication and coordination between policyholders, investors, brokers, and licensed life settlement providers. IRAA does not purchase life insurance policies, fund their purchase, take ownership of them, hold settlement or acquisition proceeds, or operate transaction escrow accounts. Those responsibilities belong to the licensed providers, insurers, and independent parties involved in each transaction.
Regulatory Distinctions: Policyholder and Investor Services
Under Florida law, a licensed viatical settlement broker represents the policyholder in a life settlement transaction and owes fiduciary duties to the policyholder. IRAA's policyholder-side brokerage services are performed in that capacity, through its appropriately licensed individual, and are distinct from IRAA's investor-side activities.
On the investor side, IRAA acts as a consultant and sourcing coordinator — helping investors define acquisition criteria and connecting them with potential opportunities through a network of brokers and other market participants. IRAA does not act as the investor's statutory representative in the same capacity as a viatical settlement broker represents a policyholder, and does not represent both the policyholder and the investor as a licensed broker in the same transaction.
The structure, compensation, and permissible scope of IRAA's investor-side consulting and sourcing activities — including any potential implications under Florida and federal securities law — are under review by qualified Florida regulatory counsel and have not yet been finalized. This page will be updated as that review is completed.
Individual Licensing
Dalton Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of IRAA, holds a Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Agent (2-15) license, license number W889867, and is self-appointed as a Florida Viatical Settlement Broker.
Company Licensing Status
Indian River Alternative Assets, LLC's company-level licensing status is under review and will be published here upon confirmation.
No Offer, No Guarantee
Nothing on this website is an offer to purchase or sell a life insurance policy, a guarantee of any offer, return, or transaction outcome, or a representation of IRAA's licensing or regulatory status in any jurisdiction other than as expressly stated above. IRAA does not provide tax, financial, legal, or investment advice.
Updates to This Page
IRAA may update this page as its licensing and regulatory status is confirmed, or as required by law. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
